Director, Payroll Compliance - Troy, MI

Details: Kelly Services, Inc., a leading provider in workforce solutions, has an excellent full time opportunity for an experienced Director, Payroll Compliance. This opportunity will be located at Kelly Services Headquarters in Troy, Michigan.This individual will direct the overall operations of the payroll compliance, garnishments and audit process to ensure accurate and timely compliance in all legal matters. Responsible for keeping up to date on any compliance rules and regulations for both the US and Canada. Responsible for the account support of our customers to insure that the time submission and other payroll processes are aligned with the defined payroll processes. Supervises the Manager of the Compliance Department, Supervisor of Customer Service Representatives and Garnishments as well as the ePayroll Manager. Responsible for resolving Payroll Compliance issues and maintaining strong relationships between legal, branches and the Payroll Center. Responsible for insuring that the US, Puerto Rico and Canada tax withholdings are accurate and all yearend tax requirements are met.Responsibilities:Directs the day-to-day operations of the Payroll Compliance group, Garnishment and Customer Service group and the ePayroll team.Manages Payroll Compliance Manager, Customer Service and Garnishment Supervisor and the ePayroll Manager. This includes hiring and performance reviews. Handle staff employee relations issues/concerns. Provide education, training, coaching and development counseling to staff.Provide customer service to and create strong working relationships with branches, SAO, GCRT, Billing and the MLCD group.Research new regulations regarding compliance and tax issues for the US, Puerto Rico and Canada.Ensure that adequate controls are in place within the payroll compliance area and follow up to insure all staff are following documented processes. Evaluate payroll compliance procedures to accommodate new and changing needs.Qualifications/Required Skills:Bachelors degree in business related field.7-10 years of Payroll experience, plus 3-5 years Management experience in PayrollIn-depth knowledge of garnishments, subpoenas and other compliance requirements in both US and Canada. CPP Preferred.Analytical, customer service, good communication, ability to multi-task, change management skills and prioritize work.Must be able to effectively manage difficult situations.
